Continuous measurement with FibreGuard

A new system for the real-time moni
toring of tension on all Neumag BCF
(bulk continuous filament) yarn produc
tion processes has been introduced by
Barmag, now part of the Rieter Group and
based in Neumünster, Germany.
FibreGuard BCF sensors and software
ensure that process stability and product
quality are sustainably improved. The
intelligent system continuously measures
yarn tension between twisting and
winding in real time and if there are deviations, automatically intervenes and
adjusts the process independently. The
result is less waste, higher efficiency and
greater sustainability.
Operators can use the HMI (human
machine interface) to call up live data,
define individual reporting thresholds and
activate automatic adjustments. In
addition, the system enables the creation
of customer-specific reference curves for
yarn tension during the doffing process.
“Our discussions with interested BCF
producers have shown that we have
listened to our customers,” says Jan Pauer,
Barmag’s head of service products.
“FibreGuard is the next step in all Neumag
BCF processes, compatible with all current
Neumag BCF machines and easily
retrofitted to existing Neumag BCF S8
machines. The combination of hardware
and intelligent software opens the door to
new production possibilities, characterised
by reliable thread tension measurement
and automated process adjustment.”
