I taly’s Eurojersey is expanding its performance textile developments beyond its established synthetic stretch fabrics, with new materials targeting applications ranging from yoga and tennis to demanding outdoor and highintensity sports. Presented under the company’s Out of Frame concept, the developments focus on the different performance requirements created by movement rather than individual sporting disciplines. They address properties including stretch, compression, breathability, moisture management, durability and comfort, with fabrics engineered according to the requirements of different activities. For yoga, wellness and other lower-intensity applications, Eurojersey has developed soft, highly stretchable fabrics designed to follow the body closely while providing freedom of movement and a second-skin feel. For tennis and other fast-moving sports, the emphasis shifts to lightweight, breathable constructions combining moisture management with stretch and comfort during rapid changes in movement. Perhaps the most significant new direction is the company’s first development in knitted cotton. Currently at an early stage, the project combines the natural characteristics of cotton with Eurojersey’s existing textile technology and represents an expansion of its research into new fibre and fabric combinations. At the more technical end of the range, Eurojersey is developing solution-dyed fabrics offering high abrasion resistance, alongside new membrane constructions intended for demanding conditions where protection and durability are priorities. The four areas form part of Eurojersey’s wider strategy to develop performance fabrics around specific functional requirements rather than conventional sportswear categories. The company says this approach will allow combinations of properties to be tailored more closely to the requirements of brands and product developers.
